Fourteen. Somehow we blinked and Samantha is heading to high school.
This has been a big year. The kind where the calendar fills up fast and she somehow handles all of it like it’s normal.
Academically, she continues to amaze us. Samantha doesn’t just “do well” in school. She intentionally pushes herself beyond what’s expected. Her focus was on mapping out how to land a spot in AP World History. It takes focus, discipline, and a lot of late nights to pull that off. She balanced honors classes, kept her grades strong, and earned that schedule spot fair and square. She sets goals, then quietly goes to work. No shortcuts. No excuses.
But Samantha is far from all books and binders.
She completed another season of cheer this year, bringing her energy and spirit to every practice and game. There’s something about watching her out there that makes it hard not to smile. She commits fully, she shows up.
And then there’s volleyball. She genuinely loves it. The energy, the teamwork, the rhythm of the game. It’s not just another activity on a list. It’s something that lights her up. Whether she’s on the court diving for a ball or talking about a great play afterward, it’s clear she’s found something she truly enjoys.
This winter, we got to see a different side of her when she took the stage in The Little Mermaid production. Seeing Samantha perform, lights shining, completely in her element, was unforgettable. She managed rehearsals, schoolwork, and everything else without missing a beat. It takes courage to step on stage like that. She made it look easy.
One of the highlights of the year was our trip to Poland to visit family. Watching Samantha explore the streets, listen to stories from her grandparents, and soak in the history of the country was incredibly meaningful. She and her brother had the best time discovering where part of their story began. There’s something special about seeing your child connect with their roots and genuinely want to learn more.
Of course, through all of it, she’s still very much a sister. She and her brother can argue over the smallest things. It’s almost impressive how quickly they can escalate a debate. But underneath the teasing and eye rolls is real love.
Samantha is growing into someone who is driven, thoughtful, strong, and kind. She’s beautiful, of course, but what stands out more is her work ethic and her confidence. She knows who she is. And she’s not afraid to push herself toward what she wants.
High school is next. New challenges. Bigger opportunities. More goals to chase. If this year is any indication, she’s ready for it.
We are so proud of you, Samantha. Not just for what you've accomplished, but for how you carry yourself along the way. Fourteen looks good on you. And somehow, we know you're just getting started.
Happy 14th Birthday, My Love!
