Jack is 12!

Twelve feels like a big one.
Somewhere between tying his own cleats without thinking and confidently stepping into middle school, Jack crossed into this new chapter with an ease that still surprises me.

Middle school has been good to him—better than we ever hoped. He’s settling in, finding his rhythm, and really thriving, especially in math. Numbers have always made sense to him, but this year he fell hard for an elective that mixes math with one of his favorite things: sports. Statistics through sports feels like it was designed just for him, and watching him light up when he talks about it is pure joy.

Baseball still has his heart. Winter feels like a long pause button, and he’s counting the days until spring when he can get back on the field. Until then, chess has taken center stage at home. He’s sharp, strategic, and more often than not, he’s beating his dad—which never stops being entertaining to witness. Those games are full of laughter, mock protests, and quiet pride on all sides.

This summer gave us memories I know will stick with him. Our trip to Poland was something special—time with my parents, wandering through my hometown, and soaking in the energy of Warsaw together. Jack took it all in with curiosity and excitement, and somehow became unbeatable at claw machines along the way. I still don’t understand how he does it.

Music continues to be part of his world too. He’s still playing piano, and we’re lucky enough to have front-row seats to his concerts. Sitting and listening to him play never gets old.

And of course, there’s football season. Jack is all in on the Chicago Bears, and this year has him buzzing with excitement. Every good game feels personal to him. His enthusiasm is contagious, and yes—Go, Bears.
Twelve looks really good on him. Watching him grow into himself—confident, curious, and full of passion—has been one of the greatest privileges of our life.

Happy Birthday, Jack!
